After much anticipation, I present my new cruncher, named "Belphegor":

CPU: Dual AMD Opteron 240
Mobo: RioWorks HDAMB
RAM: 1536 MB PC2100 Reg ECC
PSU: Sparkle FSP550-60PLG
HD: Western Digital 13.6 GB 72K
Optical: Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32A, Actima 36X CD-ROM
Video: Gainward GeForce3
TV: Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 XP Deluxe
Sound: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy
Operating System: Slackware Linux 9.0

BTW, I was unable to get SB 1.0.2 to work on this rig, so I'm using SB 1.0.0 until a new client comes out.

Well, that's one way to do it...



A little about the HSFs that came with the CPUs:

They're about 80x80mm, aluminum w/ copper bases. The fans are 70x10mm Deltas. It appears as though adapters will be needed for 80mm fans. The thermal material on the bottom of the sinks appears to be a silver-based compound as opposed to a pad. The bases of the sinks were extremely rough so I lapped them, removing the mysterey material in the process. :)

Holy crap, that's some awesome rig! Good luck with getting it assembled and running well. Pics are a must, not to mention benchmarks (do you hear me, I'm demanding them, ok?!? ;)), so be sure to have your :camera: handy. FWIW, just earlier today I was wondering if anyone on the TeAm had gotten an Opteron system up and running yet, and was just going to post a thread to see about that. Oh well, I guess you answered my question for me. Anyway, here's to a successful, fun, and enjoyable system assembly, installation, and assimilation! :wine: *clink* :wine:

Well, I just got an e-mail from someone at Monarch saying:

That is not in stock we had a error on the site. we just asked it. the board
will be instock in 5-6 days do you want to wait?

great price also we will go up to 499.00 soon

I replied to him saying that I would wait. I suppose this means the dedication ceremony will have to be delayed for a little while... :)

LOL, I hope so! :cool:

Nice parts, BTW, but it will be nicer to see them in the assembled configuration. :D

Mobo came today. It didn't come with a manual so I guess I'll have to wing it. I should have it up and running this evening. :)
