My new ride!

I just made a purchase on a used car and finally got rid of my 2002 dodge stratus.

I spent more than I wanted but I think it was worth it. I got a 2010 Toyota Corolla S with 18,000 miles. Pre-owned certified, carfax 1 owner, and it was the dealership's fleet car. I ended up closing at about $15,500 after all the taxes and closing costs. Originally they wanted to give me $1,200 for my trade-in, but I got them to give me $3000 for it, which is $500 above KBB trade-in value!

Only thing that sucks is the financing. 72 month at $262 a month (4.2% APR). The plan is to just pay it off within 1 year when I get a new job around July this year because I make such a low amount of money. I live frugally most of the time so that shouldn't be a problem. I got a 6 year/100,000 bumper to bumper with GAP insurance for an extra $20/month on the payment.

Anyways, here's the pics, she's a beaut!

Nice purchase, but man, those are some boring cars, even with their effort put into putting spoilers and side skirts.

Congrats, but I have to ask, do they even sell a non-S model? I always joke because every single Corolla I see on the road is an S.

I agree they are definitely no sports car and are not the most exciting to drive. What matters most to me right now is fuel efficiency and reliability. I just like the S model more cosmetically and it's a better looking car with the fog lights and the spoiler isn't ridiculous looking (I'm no ricer)

Thanks! They do sell a non-S model, the LE is what the trim is called. There's a lot out there most likely due to them being one of the cheapest Toyotas you can get.

nice job! a huge step up from an 02 stratus. friend of mine as an 04 he bought new. and 8 years later it still runs like a top.all he has done to it was brakes and tires it has 140k on it and will last him for many years to come as will yours. you did get the better looking of the corolla line. for a daily its ok to have a beige car, like you said reliable and fuel efficient .

I'm sure it's not a terribly engaging drive but at least it looks good...nice choice. Is it an auto or manual?

Obviously it's going to run forever - friend has a 91 Corolla with only about 60k miles on it - they had to do some work on it since it was sitting for a while, but apart from the two blown rear speakers and a sagging headliner, it's in very good shape and drives well.

Thanks everyone!

Financing a car for 6 years at 4%...yikes.

The bumper to bumper for $1400 is pretty solid though.

Yeah I know, but the plan is to pay it off way faster than that once I get a job where I have more leftover cash per paycheck.

And I didn't even spend $1400 on the warranty, originally it was going to be $30 a month for BOTH the GAP insurance/bumper to bumper warranty combined. I hesitated and told him I didn't want the bumper to bumper, but only the GAP and he said he would lower the price to $20, a dollar above cost to them. the split was originally GAP insurance ($12 per month)/Bumper to bumper warranty ($18 per month) Once I walked away, I had a deal where I will only be paying $8 a month for the bumper to bumper. I think I got a freaking steal because that equates to $600 for a 6 year/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The GAP insurance comes out to $860 or so.

grats on the new ride!

and nice photography skills too 😀

Thanks! Taken with my Canon t2i and a Tokina 11-16mm lens 🙂

Look at that S car go!!! 😀

🙄

Perfect low maintenance long lasting car. Treat it like a princess and it'll act like a queen for you. Unlike some cars which you can treat like a queen and yet get bitch slapped every few month with repairs.

he's way overdue for a new timing belt, not to mention oil changes. 🙂
