My new PSU won't fit inside my case.

I have a PC Power and Cooling 510-SLI Deluxe PSU sitting in this room and I tried to install it 2 weeks ago into my Antec SLK3000B and it was too small to fit in the case. What should I do to get the thing to fit in the case? One of my brothers said to only put in one screw to hold the power supply in the case and another is talking about a Power Supply bracket or whatever those things are called to make the thing fit into the case. What can I do to install the new PSU? I don't want to have to RMA the thing. Would only using one screw do the trick or would I be setting myself up for disaster?

Too small to fit in the case? Do you mean that the screw holes for the PSU are closer together than the screw holes at the back of the case?

It seems like the PSU bay or something is too big for the PSU. I tried to get it to align with the screw holes, and it wouldn't without blocking the fan(which will tear it up really fast), so I either need a PSU bracket to make it fit, or I'll need to just use one screw, and I don't know if that'll hold the PSU enough because I don't want to cart around the case and the PSU fall onto the motherboard and tear up a bunch of things. The dimensions of the PC Power and cooling is 5.9" wide, 3.4" High, and 5.5" Depth, and the Dimensions of the case are 8.3" Wide, 18.3" high, and 18.6" Depth if that helps any. My current PSU has the same dimensions, but for some reason, it fits as well. Something is wrong here.

I don't know if I had it upside down or not. I seemed to have tried all angles with no luck, but I'll consider that.

i thought it might have a plate like some of my old antec cases but this one doesn't seem to.

So would using a Power Supply Bracket or using the one screw method work or do you think that I was just aligning the thing wrong by putting it upside down?

Ok, are you sure you have the PSU orientated correctly? Looks like the photo they have of it is upside down. (Look at the mounting holes)

yeah like bob said, the psu is upside down (in relation to the case) in that pic. otherwise i dunno what to tell you. it's not setup for a bracket, and i certainly wouldn't put one screw in my power supply and hope for the best. i'd call antec and ask them what was up.

Bring it to a PC shop. Hopefully, they will assist you with the PSU orientation. There is NO need to waste $ on that PSU with your current setup.

I know I give you a hard time man, but you're just not patient enough to follow advice all the way through or try to figure something out. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt from now on.

As the other guys have said, the picture of the PSU is upside down.

It's fairly standard when you install a PSU that part of the fan is covered, but it's usually a very small area. That's why the fan grille is mounted in a recessed area, to be flush with the body of the PSU. It shouldn't affect the fan at all. As long as the screw holes match up you should be fine.

Now go test your ram at PC3200 on MemTest!

Ok. You're forgiven. And I took a look at the pics and then I came to the same conclusion as the screws seem to align better. And I did test it at PC3200 on memtest and I got errors, so I had to revert back to PC2700. I didn't really notice a difference, though.

Hey man, not trying to be mean but if you couldn't figure that out having the parts right in front of you, you really shouldn't be trying to build or upgrade your computer by yourself. Just by reading your post I knew exactly what was wrong, the pics confirmed it. Have a friend or someone help you, it will undoubtedly save you some $$$ down the road... :)

So the problem was that I just installed the PSU upside down? Everyone seems to be saying that and I'm starting to go along with that.
