are you buying all this stuff new ??

if so - why buy a Top of the Line GF2 Ultra ?? - just spend a bit more for a GF3 & you won't have to upgrade in a LOOOOOOONG time.

I'd also say get the ACS 56's for better gaming performance

& I hate the MS Natural Elite Keyboard 😉 😛

Looks nice. What are you doing for a monitor? Maybe consider an extra $150 or so for a GF3?

IMHO those keyboards suck ass. I have nothing against "natural" keyboards, but I do not like the MS Elite. I would prefer a plain generic $10 job over one of those.

Otherwise, looks nice. You should be happy for a while.

Creative Lab sound blaster XGAMER 5.1 PCI Sound Card $90.00

How about changing that to:

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz for $60 B&M at CompUSA

So much better card than old SB series.
I, too, am a happy user who upgraded to Santa Cruz from SBLive! Value.

Noticable difference in playing MP3s (yes, noticable.. I was very skeptical about this 'til i bought it)
and realistic 3D sound in gaming (using Sansura 3D technology)

Why bother with SB series when you can get a better card for less?

My two cents

I agree get a santa cruz instead...

Get a keyboard with internet hotkeys and dump the elite...

Newegg has gf3 visiontek for 345.00+7.00=352.00 so an add on of 108.00...

got good use for a case like that (ie full tower)? for that much?

I would get a nice case w/o ps...throw in two fans and go buy a 350watt sparkle pS (55.00 dollars at kri computers) for a total just around 100.00...

I also agree on the Santa Cruz. Also, think about upgrading your speakers to the Boston Acoustics 4800's. They run about $120 and sound great.

Upgrade to the GF3, or if you don't want to spend the money, downgrade to the GF2 Pro. That way you can spend the saved money on better speakers (BA-4800's).

Definitely go with the Santa Cruz, and nicer speakers.

<< ok I already have a 30 GB 7200 RPM WD Hard Drive and A Sony CD-RW. I will list everything below please tell me if I would have any problems with the components and If I need anything else.

Antec SX1030 Full-Tower Case, Enermax 340W $167.87 You can get an Antec SX1040 for ~$150 shipped, and it comes with an excellent 400W PSU.

EPOX EP-8K7A Motherboard. AMD-761 + VIA 686B AGPset. For AMD Processors $132.00 Good choice.

Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 Ultra 64MB DDR RAM 4X AGP Video Card $244.00 Good choice, unless you feel like shelling out another ~$100 for a GF3.

AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz 266MHz Bus Socket A processor $168.00 Good choice; 1.33GHz are about ~$30 more.

Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite $30.00 These go for around $20.

TOSHIBA DVD ROM, 16X DVD, 48X CD ROM $70.00 Good choice, but again, these can be found for around $60.

Creative Lab sound blaster XGAMER 5.1 PCI Sound Card $90.00 Rip-off. Get a Santa Cruz, or an Acoustic Edge for the same money or less. SB Live! cards have issues with your motherboard.

Altec Lansing ACS33 3 pieces speaker system $45.00 Look around; locally, I can pick these up for under $30.

512 MB of PC2100 DDR-SDRAM, 184-pin DIMM $118.78 Good choice.

Artic Silver 2 $9.50 Good choice.

Samsung SyncMaster 770 TFT $895.04 Whoa.

hey man all of those prices include the shipping cost 🙂 and were can I find the santa cruz? also a teac floppy drive?

Why are you getting a flat screen monitor? why not go for a 21 inch monitor for the same price with better resolution?

huh? flat panel have a lot better image quality and also they dont flicker they are a lot easier on the eyes.

<< Why are you getting a flat screen monitor? why not go for a 21 inch monitor for the same price with better resolution? >>

Agreed. Games will look pretty choppy on your TFT; it would be a waste of a good video card.

If all those prices include shipping, try buying a few components together at one retailer, so you won't get ripped off with shipping costs for just buying a single cheap component.

Check Pricewatch for a Santa Cruz and a TEAC floppy.

most of the stuff I ordered are from newegg.com so theres no problem witht that also if I dont get that LCD what are some other very very high qulity monitors?

<< huh? flat panel have a lot better image quality and also they dont flicker they are a lot easier on the eyes. >>

A quality monitor, like a Samsung 1200NF, won't flicker either. Plus it's huge, will offer higher resolutions, and TFTs can get choppy with some resolutions in gaming.

anyone else gt 2 cents? is there any better monitor then the Samsung 1200NF? and also I dont need a 22 inch one what is the absolute best monitor 17-20 inch?

Sony trinitron 19", Samsung 99NF, Viewsonic PF790. All very good 19" monitors.

Sweet! With the money saved there, you can get the GF3.
