i just got my new AMD barton 2500+, 512 ddram 400 mzh, antech silent power supply, and soyo dragon mb. At first it worked but it over heated so i poped off the heatsink and rubed off the compund that was on the heatsink that was some weird lil hard pasty stuff then but some silver computed then started the pc then it aint post. then i saw i didnt put in the ram because i toke it out for some resoan. then i put it back in and it aint power up. then i tryed the power suplie on my old computer and it worked. so might it be the mb or was that compod was to be on the heatsink? but i replaced it.or maybe the mb died?i hope i dont have to send it back.

Think back to when you were putting the heatsink back on, did you twist it or apply escessive pressure at all?

The system should power on even without a working processor....try ensuring that everything is seated correctly including the RAM, you may also want to try setting the CMOS jumper to clear, turn on, then switch it back to normal and turn on again and see if anything powers up.

Are you using the stock HSF?....what sort of temps were you getting?

Good luck returning it. They may not let you if they see that you were at fault.

Is this your first system build? Do you really even know what you are doing?

One more thing, I'm not trying to be mean but please use somewhat complete sentences and break your thoughts apart and we will be able to help you better.
