well i just got a p4 2.4c malay
an abit is7-e
and 2 - DDRAM 512M|64X64 C2 PC3200 OCZ

ive got it built and have been testing it for last 3 - 4 days or so
i seem to be fsb locked somehow

i get the dreaded long beep when every i use the fsb above 265 no matter what i change
ive tried the voltages the ratios ram settings everything and nothing will change that fact im currently running stable at 260 fsb 5:4 and 1.6 vlt and 2.7 vlt on the ram this averages out 3.12 ghz but i was hoping for more
ive also upgraded the bios to v15

the other odd thing ive noticed that if i use any settings for my ram other than the default autos that my system will not boot either and the dreaded long beep occurs again

puzzling for me to say the least any ideas would be appreciated

hrmm, how about that game accelerator settings? make sure their like this, in order top to bottom: auto/normal/auto/disable/disable, if their not set at that already, that might give u some more fsb increase. also, are you running stock cooling?

I wouldn't run higher with stock cooling anyway. You should be able to increase VDIMM to 2.8V, I'd recommend doing so. Turn off all game accelerator features (you can try them on when you get a stable higher o/c). Your VCORE seems fine, even maybe a little high. You may simply be bound by a limitation in your particular combo. 265-ish seems about right for a max , a number of people see walls around there. I'd say you're RAM restricted at that point, given a 5:4 with PC3200. You can try lowering timings, but I'm guessing you're just hitting the maximum for your RAM.

You're not doing bad at all. Especially with PC3200 ram. As previously mentioned, you may be hitting the limits with your RAM. You might want to run Memtest 86 V3.0 and see if you can go thru 10 passes without any errors - if you haven't already done so. This is probably the best memory testing program out there. I thought I had a stable system until I ran this program...I had over 200+ errors. I ended up raising the Vcore and Vdim settings to the next BIOS setting level and the errors disappeared. Oh, I also notice that my SisSandra and PCMark2002 scores went up as well after fixing the memory errors.

wow thnx for that tip on the memory program i thought i was stable as well and ran it to find 150+ errors
so taking ur advice i raised the voltages then the errors jumped to 800

was puzzled some so after some playing with settings i found the sweet spot

cpu cor volt was 1.6 v
and dram vlt was 2.65 v

and ran the test several times all with flawless settings
so my final settings i think ima live with are

260 fsb 5:4 divider
psb800
1.6v core
2.65v dram

and all the gat pat settings are set to auto for everything
this takes my cpu
2.4ghz to 3.13ghz
260 fsb 208 ram settings
2 512 pc 3200 ocz copper heat spreader ram

not bad but was hoping for more and it all appears very stable
