another SV1K to add, mines a K3:

P.S. I still say congrats on your purchase. As stated before, the big george forman grill ZX14R is simply not for me, but it is still an amazing machine. Unfortunately I can't show you any pictures of my ZX10R because I can't seem to find any without a almost fully naked girlfriend on it.

This is AT. You are required to provide pictures of the girlfriend. Therefore, post the girlfriend on the bike, and kill two birds with one stone.

If no one minds, I'd like to toss a bit of clear thinking into the debate. My thought is that top speed doesn't matter for anything other than bragging rights. You can't ride that fast anywhere in the USA, except on a track. Around here, 150 will get your bike impounded, your license suspended for several months, and an insurance premium that will break your heart. So saying "my bike will do 190" is meaningless, cause you ain't never going to ride it that fast.

Jesus christ... is this the kind of people I'm being lumped in with? Fuck. Anybody want to buy a 2008 ZX6R?

Seriously though... 200 horsepower literbike? What a clown. MAYBE 200 horsepower at the crank with 5-6 grand in performance mods. Or MAYBE 200 horsepower to the wheel WITH a turbo. But stock? No. Just... no.

Yes, speedometers are not particularly accurate... but... off by 20%? Not likely. Besides, you don't have to rely on the speedometer to know how fast you're going. Mathematically my bike tops out at 183 mph based on the gearing... but it doesn't have the power to push it much past 160-165 which is around 14,500-15,000 RPM in 6th. Coincidentally, that's about where the horsepower peaks once the "jumper mod" is performed.

most liter bikes are fairly close to 200hp at the crank. most do ~180hp or so, IIRC.

I'd recommend doing some research and educating yourself. The entire current lineup of liter bikes are around 200hp at the crank bone stock. It's embarrassing every time someone makes statements like these as it shows you're still living in the 80's of motorcycle engineering.

Sure the engines haven't changed much, but electronics have come a hell of a long way.

166 HP to the wheel with a slip-on as the only performance mod. The slip-on probably gave him 6 HP or so. If you figure a 10% power loss in the drive train, you're looking at 175-180 HP at the crank.

So you're right... 200 HP at the crank is doable even with these engines being tuned quite well out of the box. However, saying a ZX10 weighs 453 pounds and has 200 horsepower is just wrong.

I suppose your right. If we have to live in a world of absolute approximates to make strange people like you happy, then I can accommodate you.

2009 Kawasaki ZX10R Specs bone stock:

MSRP: $11,799
Curb Weight: 459 lbs.
Horsepower: 168.85 @ 12,200 rpm (approx 194hp @ crank)
Torque: 82.72 lb-ft @ 9000 rpm
Quarter Mile: 10.05 @ 141.5 mph
60 to 100 mph Roll On (fourth gear): 4.61 seconds
Top Speed: 186 mph
Average MPG: 31.89

Shit. I was off by.. 6 lbs, and 6 hp. Damn. You sure schooled me.

Shit Halik I must have missed your update, when did you finish the rebuild?

The carbon makes that bike look amazing.

I wish I had the time to find an old moto guzzi and do the same.

All very nice bikes.

You guys notebook racing hayabusa's and zx14's are acting like fags. (look up south park episode). The fact that you are doing it shows you don't have enough to skill to ascertain the maximum performance out of either bike.

My suggestion is to lay down a few track days - and realize that 160+++ hp on a streetbike is 110% totally useless. Is it nice? Yes. It's nice for blasting down the highway with a bunch of luggage loaded down.. This is coming from someone who put 7k+ miles on a 1098. The power is nice, but useable on the street? No.

In my opinion the busa and 14 are best for sport touring and drag racing. Personally, I'd love to have an older hayabusa with hard bags and go cross country.. Now that's what those bikes are made for - effortless 90mph all day long with the ability to do some nice steady twisties at the end of the day, all in comfort.

And the zx14 is a nice bike, I like kawi a lot - I put 15k+ miles on an 05 636 awhile ago.

But that sticker scheme... is not my thing. I'll take black, please. Maybe that plasma blue if they're out of black.

Out of curiosity, can the stickers be removed?

Also... you know why they call them squids?

Squids can't turn underwater.. They blast straight ahead, nearly stop, then slowly turn in another direction

Sorta like those guys up in the mtns.. Doing wheelies through 3rd and then getting passed in a corner by a GS500

😛

That is my thoughts as well. I never claimed my ZX14 was some track superstar. It would probably get tore up on a race track. It's a big comfortable sport touring bike. If you ever rode one you'd be impressed with how comfortable and easy to ride the thing is. It's light too considering it's size. It seems extremely docile when you ride around. Which is why I was so shocked whenever I finally let the beast loose. I'm thinking of taking it to a local dragstrip and embarassing some people.
