hi,

after a *terrible* installation of my new soyo dragon plus (i could *not* get a clean win98 install on it....i had to work off an old Win98 installation - boot into an old 98SE installation HD and work from there....)

i now finally have my new system (XP 1800, dragon plus, radeon 8500) up and running.

The speed and the radeon are AMAZING. I havent even overclocked my radeon or my system yet, running plain 133/133 at 11.5 (cas2 ram timing).....i get freaking 8350 3dmarks with 3dmark2001....holy cow !!!!!! I expected some 7000.....but 8350...i couldnt believe my eyes :) :) :)

Also...the radeon demos...Nature, dolphins, Rachel....and the Nature scene in 3dmark2001......whow.....AWESOME !!!!!

After two days of headaches getting win98 on the sys i am happy now and i have a f****g fast machine.....i dont even think what scores i might get when i overclock the radeon retail (300 ???? should be possible)....and the fsb.......holy cow i could imagine going near 10000 3dmarks.....that's crazy...:) :)

greetings

I would recommend running some real-world benchmarks, i.e. games. Radeon 8500 scores extremely well in 3d Mark, but its frame rate is below that of GeForce3 Ti 500 in many games.. Maybe it's the drivers..

So just run some game benches, and then celebrate =)

not that i give a d*mn what 3dmark scores i have :) I just found it interesting..and of course i am happy to have my sys up and running without any bigger stability issues...and 8350 just shows me everything is ok and running better than expected

i cannot confirm ANY claims of in stability esp. concerning the radeon....as of now EVERYTHING runs fine.....the few crashes i had were related to my modem (!)..the $18 creative modem...sometimes it can happen i freeze when i connect to the internet - but thats all of right now..no probs in benchmarks, demos, games whatsoever.... (which i first expected after i had that problems getting win98se on it)

I also recently got my new computer.. and I loveeee it. Moving from a 14 inch non-flat scree monitor to 21" flat screen monitor really made the difference :)
