This week was the birthday of my new PC. I did a lot of research, and a *lot* of it was done here at Anand's. I really have to thank my friend Ken who assembled most of the components that I bought. And I want to thank all of you here who either posted back to me, or added something that I picked up on that helped me put my Duron machine together. I haven't tested it fully, but so far, it has performed very well. The only trouble we had was with the ATA-100 controller but for now it works well enough as an ATA-66. With some more research, I hope to iron that out. Regardless, I have installed Descent 3 and MW 3 on it, and the performance is miles beyond what my Dell P2 233MHz w/ STB 128 video could do. Dare I hope that I can get beyone 12 fps on the UT demo?

I hope to learn a lot more here, and I want to encourage anyone to build their own PC. I doubt you save a lot (if any)money building one from the ground up, but seeing your own custom design post to life is really great.

Thanks again everyone, especially to Anand & staff.

Congrats, our computers were born on the same day :) I just put in my new mobo and processor and everything is up and running. Now I need to focus on monitor, video card, and speakers. Love them Durons though (1ghz out of a value chip lol).
