I would also love advice on coolers. I have looked at many review but they dont agree on the best coolers always.

Sorry if its alot of coolers but I am new to overclocking( my e6850 has G-power2 on it) I love opinions and would like ur thoughts. I'd like it to be kinda low noise.

The stepping should be on the side of the retail box of the cpu.

S-spec? Stepping spec?

That makes sense. My brain is overloaded from cooler reviews.

D0 is known to run at a higher clock-rate but with higher temps compared to a C0 stepping. As far as cooling, Prolimatech Megahalem with whatever fan you like is the way to go (I have scythe S-Flex on mine). If you have decent airflow in your case it doesn't really matter what fan you put on the PM.

Check stepping using CPUZ for sure. It is read from the CPUID instruction set of the CPU, so that is the definitive answer.

I think the S-Flex SFF21F has a good performance/noise ratio, and works great on the megahalems. I have the fan at the lowest setting (all my fans are on low so i don't really notice it) and it cools well even when my room gets kind of warm from heater.

Here some good roundups of popular quality fans:

• SilentPC Recommendation: The Quiet Fan List
• Xbit Roundup: Ultimate 120/140 mm Fans Roundup

The fans you listed are all decent fans. If you want something quiet, choose a fan with a noise rating close to 30 dBA or less with the most CFM. Yate Loon is also a very popular cooling fan.

aright just ordered the Megahalem for 64 bucks and with it the S-flex you recommended.
