My new "green" car

For those in the DC area, the storms yesterday were pretty rough. In an effort to do Jeeebus' part for the environment, my car took it upon itself yesterday to go "green." Pretty sure this will just buff right out.

That shouldn't be there

Sorry to laugh but, seriously, the same thing happened to my wife's '93 Nissan 240sx in FL. A huge branch totalled it after one of the hurricanes. We got about $2,500 from the insurance (more than we would've gotten if we sold it!) and put it down on a new '04 Mazda6i hatch ;)

What was the car make/year?

Insurance rarely pays you enough for totaled cars. When it's paid for, they may pay the value for the car, but they rarely pay enough to pay for taxes and all other costs associated with replacement. :(

it's a 2004 Hyundai Sonata. Damage is probably fixable, but it's gonna take a while to get Dominion out to take care of the power lines/downed trees, and then we need to get the car to a shop. Both back doors are popped out, trunk is... ugly. Bigger concern is that the back windshield is totally smashed in, meaning I probably have 50 gallons of water in the car right now.

When my wife totaled her car, they told us how much they were going to give us. We looked on used car sites for cars like hers, and all of the comparable cars were selling for $1000 more than they were going to give us. I told my wife to tell the insurance company that, and they ended up giving us an extra $3000. :Q

The DC storms are God's way of telling the evil libruls in Congress to stop resisting GWB's plans.

Just be thankful you weren't in it like the guy in Annandale who died from the tree.

Does every damned thing have to go back to politics? It's bad enough that we are now inundated with it 24x7 because of the presidential election but can't a thread about storm damage remain free of references to GWB and politics or do you just eat, live and breath the stuff?

Dude, there's a car in your tree!!

Sorry to see that happen to anyone, but at least you weren't hurt, right? :)

Best one I ever saw was when I lived in Guam. Was going around after one of our typhoons (hurricanes), and saw an old beater car that had had a coconut tree inserted into the back window......and right through the car, and the front windshield!! Looked like he was gonna try out some sort of tropical jousting!!

No I get the sarcasm but frankly am just sick of wall to wall Clinton, Obama, McCain, and GWB and unfortunately old enough to remember when this presidential crap really didn't start until about 8 months before the actual election. Plus I was in a really pissy mood when I read the post. ;)
