Ok, I've bugged u guys for the past couple weeks now about helping build a good gaming tower. After doing all my research I think I finally got it. Tell me what u think about this build when it will be used primarily for gaming, and a little bit of photoshop and video editing:

(I'm using my old sound card from my last comp, its a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 2Z)

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester) -$320
Li PC-65B Case -$120
Seasonic 400W Super Tornado -$80
MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum" NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Chipset -$139
1 GB DDR (400) PC-3200 Patriot Extreme Performance -$158
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB -$176
Seagate 160GB Barracuda -$109
NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive -$52
Sapphire Radeon X850 XT PCI Express -$455

Total before shipping: $1609

^^Is that a good rig there? I provided the links so u guys could see the places I was buying it from. Should I be weary about some of the stores I have speced there? Hit me back, any feedback is appriciated, thanks!

well....you might wanna get a videocard.....
otherwise, it looks like a pretty sweet rig....you might be able to save some cash by buying a 3200+ and overclocking it. as well, you can cut some more by skipping the raptor drive. the performance isn't that much higher, space is waaaay lower, and they run alot hotter.
otherwise....i'm frickin jealous. *looks over at 2500+XP rig*

Looks like a nice balance. I like it.

I'm jealous too. *looks over at broken 2500+XP rig from his backup 1800+XP rig*

Great find on that RAM! Much cheaper than newegg. Stick with it, great stuff.

I'd still reccomend the DFI Ultra-D

No on the CPU, RAM, Motherboard, one of the HDs, and case.

Well, I mean if you really aren't budget conscious they're fine, but there are cheaper (and better/as good) routes to take

If he gets another stick of the same ram later, he'll have dual channel. Getting 512mb sticks isn't as good for the future at the moment. 4 sticks == 333@2T. Venice core is supposed to fix this issue, but I'm waiting to actually see it.

Well I'd suggest a 3000+ Winchester. They overclock to 2.4ghz and more.. just about everyone of them. The one from the Monarch Combo I got runs stable @ 2.5 ghz.
For your RAM, I would just some Corsair Value, since they're like 92 dollars or something right now for a Gig. You could also check out some Mushkin Blueline, Twinmos or G.Skill. Very cheap and overclocks well w/ tight timings. Even if you get Corsair Value, you could run the memory @ lower speeds, and your system performance difference won't be noticeable.
Finally, get the DFI Motherboard.
That 160 gb HD is also quite expensive, hold off until you actually need it and look for a good deal.
As for the Case, it looks too simple and too small for damn (135 bucks?). I'd look around and make sure your satisfied. Do you absolutely need Aluminum? As a a suggestion, I would look at this case: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=11-171-055&depa=0 (Ok, its the case I have and its the best friggen looking thing EVAR :) ). Or Something like the ThermalTake Tsunami, Cavalier, Antec Sonata.

None of these suggestions work if your not comfortable with overclockign though. (Its not difficult @ all by any means though)

And on an aside: whatevery ou decide to buy, get it @ Monarch with a Combo. You get free HL2, Napster, and Farcry.

I'd get a Lian-Li if I had the money. If you like it, go for it.

If you don't want to overclock, I think you're just about right on with everything.

So you finally ready to buy?
Setup looks very nice...very nice. If you can afford it, don't change anything. :)

If you do decide to get 2x512MB
G.skill
Patriot

Seriously for the price difference there is no reason to get the Corsair VS over the G.skill

I would honesly go all out and get a Lian Li PC-V2000B or go with a Antec SLK3000B
