My new egg order

So guys i finally steped up and order my parts. How'd i do?
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939
eVGA 256-P2-N517-AX Geforce 7800GT <-----will be using the evga stepup program to go to 7900gtx in about 2 weeks after payday
So what do you guys think...i really did want a mobo with dual pcie16x because i will have 2 7900gtx's in sli since i have enough power and everything in the next 3 or so months. I bought the antec truepower2 550w sli certified psu, so i think i should be ok

Badly.

The motherboard you chose isn't the one you wanted. The A8N32 is the dual PCIe 16x motherboard. Of course that doesn't matter all that much imo.

The TPII range of PSUs is alright, but it's a budget option, you'd have been better off getting a more reliable range. It should be OK, but it's a poor choice for your budget.

Why ask after ordering?

That makes more sense then. Personally i'd just get the one 7900GTX if you can, but they may well be out of stock so... *shrug*

Swap the TPII for another one, a 500W PSU can almost certainly handle that even after you go to 7900GTX, but if you want to get the extra comfort blanket it won't hurt too much. Enermax, Seasonic, Fortron, Silverstone and others are all good brands.

Current favourite for me is the enermax liberty range, worth a look.

It's not the end of the world to run the cards x8 and x8. The A8n32 is supposed to be a better performing board even in single card mode, but that sort of improvement for no known reason makes me suspicious.

From what i hear, most of the time they are just opened boxed items that have been returned and claimed still working. You must keep in mind that newegg does not check if they really do work or not so its a hit and miss. This is what I HAVE READ and know many people who rely on newegg's refurbished parts. GL if you go that route.

btw, it seems more reasonable to just wait those extra two weeks to order your parts instead of using the step-up program. Just a thought..

I don't know I think some of you aren't giving him the best advice, now he is trying to buy a refurb to b/c of the price disparity. Your mobo is fine...the lastest deluxe dual 16x is basically a gimmick that has no tangible benefits. The premium is one of the better if not the best mainstream 939 offering from asus unless u drop to the a8ne. Power supply IMO is fine for what you need, if u build systems u swap them out every 1 1/2 - 2 yrs anyway.

Dido on the step up program. Buy your parts straight up if u can...look out for coupons and discounts from etailers. Dell had killer discounts a few days ago, i missed out unfortunately.
