My new Daewoo dvd player is horrible

It stops every 45 minutes then resumes after a few minutes of "pause", other times, the screen turns monochrome and just flips from top to bottom over and over and over....

As one once said, "You can cheat me on the price, but don't cheat me on the goods!"

Anyone else with similar experiences?

Samsung is Korean? I didn't realize! Most of their stuff tends to be junk anyway unless you get top top end.

I have a Daewoo DVD player. It sucks. When you press open, you have to hit it a few times before it does just that, and when it finally opens, you gotta catch it quick before it closes by itself.

Ever notice that Koreans would rather buy Korean products even though the alternative is of better quality? Sounds mercantilistic.
Doesn't matter in the long run anyway when their exchange rate goes up because of this. Just wish they'd let these companies die out instead of artificially propping them up.

By the way, for the record, I like Koreans; they're interesting. I just don't like most of their products.

my physics teacher had the same one in class and whenever she tried showing us video demonstrations, it kept messing up and going back to the menu and etc. daewoos sux at making everything.

my LG phone is really good. i'm happy with it. Also my zenith slimline dvd player is pretty good too. No problems with it at all. The only problem I've ever had was with recording CD-R on my Samsung cd-r/rw/dvd combo drive, makes coasters at the higher speeds.

It's been 7 years since Daewoo went bankcrupt. It's not just a bankcrupt as they basically disappeared and CEO is on the run. Given that, I don't think that Daewoo DVD player is really made by Daewoo. Hell, I've even seen a Daewoo computer and I know for sure Daewoo never made a computer.
Anyway, like I said in the other thread, I've never seen a Daewoo electroic products although I'm from Korea. It's always Samsung, LG, or Hyundai but not Daewoo.

Hyundai makes a ton of products. While I don't own anything Hyundai directly, their cars are getting much much better, but I also know they make things like, I dunno, SHIPS? And we're not talking your 35-foot schooners either. LG, Daewoo SEEM to be crap to me, but Hyundai, Samsung are just the opposite IMO.

I had a bad experience with a Samsung DVD player, but I've had a lot of luck with their phones and monitors!

I wonder what you guys would say about the LG/IBM notebooks. Probably something like "well thats because IBM is involved."

Not every product can be good from a country.

we bought a cheap Sampo dvd player before (dunno if they are korean) and something happened to its region control after the first day. We'd put in a standard region 1 disc and it refuses to play it. Returned it and got a JVC instead.

Daewoo used to and Hyundai makes tanks, and vessels. For electroics, Samgsung and LG is better than Hyundai.

Not Denon.

While Denon is good, there is clearly a difference between their lower-end and higher-end stuff. The lower-end receivers used to be made by a mass-market produce (possibly Sherwood) and their higher-end of receivers were made in Japan by another group. Then again, if I was buying a $600 Denon DVD player, I would expect it to perform flawlessly. Denon doesn't make a $39 DVD player to compete with the likes of Daewoo, so it's very hard to compare the two.

More than likely, the Daewoo label was placed on that DVD player. I doubt very highly that Daewoo made the player at all.
