My new CPU's temp?

I just got my new rig (see sig) , and it's working with no problems, but when I installed MSI's PC Alert, I found out that my CPU is idling at 58C, and it goes as high as 65C during full load! That's pretty high, right?
I played Doom III for more than an hour with no problems, and same with FarCry. I ran 3DMark 2K3, I scored 5433, and it didn't crash, so I am not having instability issues (freezing, crashing, etc...), but I am worried about my CPU, is this normal for Athlon XPs? The Vcore is 1.66.
Thanks

p.s: is my 3DMark score low?

See what temps MBM reports. I've heard that PC Alert can have a 10*C difference from what the bios and MBM report.

My msi board reports higher temps than yours for a p4 2.8c. Flashing the bios didn't help. With my old power supply, it runs stable, but over 70c under load. I ordered a new sparkle power supply with the 12cm side fan for moving air around the cpu. It should cool it down some.

I got my case opened for better airflow, and my CPU's now idling at around 50C and maxing around 66C. I have the feeling that PC Alert isn't showing the true temperature, because when I touch the "65C" Heatsink, my hand doesn't get burned or hurt, I even find the video card way hotter than the CPU when I touch it!

Usually BIOS or any software readings arent accurate. The touch test always helps. As long as its stable, dont worry about it. Just make sure you have good contact with the heatsink and are using a quality interface material (arctic silver 5, etc). After that, shouldnt matter. If you really want to question stability, download prime95 and run a torture test and see how long it goes. A stable system should be able to run it infinitely, but if oyu dont get any errors after 24 hours, you're good.

it could just mean your heatsink isnt getting good contact

I checked the heatsink, and it's in contact with the CPU, so there shouldn't be a problem. By the way, it's the stock heatsink that came with the processor.
I guess you're right about the temp reading not being accurate, so as long as I am not having stability issues, I won't be concerned about this.
