Tomorrow I'll have a new HSF in my system, Silent boost from TT wich I'm going to put together with my Smar fan II and some Coolermaster Premium thermal compound. What performance should I expect from this cooling in a Barton 2500@2800?
Nowadays my Volcano 11 is runnig @4600RPM (noisy) and makes my CPU be around 45C idle/58C full load, measured by MBM.

Edit: I'll post some results tomorrow if posible ;)

Don't know if your volcano 11 has a fan rpm adjuster. If it does, lower it to about 3500 rpms and see how little the temp rises. I use a zalman "fan mate 1" rpm adjuster, about $5-7.

Yes it has adjuster. I'll have the HSF soon, and I'll try to post some results.
Thanks for your reply.

Anyone else?

The HSF has been delayed till monday. Anyway, I've put some Coolermaster premiun on the tt Volcano 11 and the temps have lowered 6 to 13C!!!!!
Now 39C idle and 45 full load :)

I just got the Silent Boost and as I mentioned in a thread in Case & Cooling, the Silent Boost isn't silent. It's not overly loud, but it's still a lot louder than I expected to be (this coming from me who had a Zalman HSF in my last system).

Anyways, with some OCZ Premium Silver Compound...

XP2500+ O/C'd to 3200+ @ 1.85V runs at 51C
Case temp is 28C

I really don't mind if it is silence, in fact, I gonna use a Smart fan II atached to it. I'm looking for performance with the smart fan at lower speeds than I'm using now, so it will be more silence than now, but not really silence.

Thanks for your reply.

Testing one now and it seems pretty quiet to me. But noise tolerance varies of course.

On a shuttle an35n, 2500+ @ 3200+ (11x200) I get 102 idle and 116 load, fahrenheit. Room temp at 75 degrees. In celsius that's 39c idle and 46c load. I use arctic ceramique.

I like it. It does what it is suppose to. Thermaltake has done well with the silent boost and the volcano 12. If this keeps up, people will start to look at them in a better light.
