Many of our current products now include thermal monitoring that allows the system to monitor the system and processor temperatures. If the temperature of either the system or processor meets or exceeds the `warning temperature` as set in the CMOS setup (Chipset Features or Sensor & CPU Speed section) a police-like sound will be broadcast out of the internal PC speaker.
Under normal stress the temperatures generally are found to maintain around 30 ~ 55 degrees Celsius but may vary depending upon processor and system components. Please refer to processor manufacturers for more information about their thermal specifications. Also see article #1010.</BLOCKQUOTE></SMALL></FONT>

alright ..... to be honest i think i might have messed it up installing it.....well i bought a retail version from new egg... and when i got it out of the box it some of the pins were bent inward (normal or not?) so i bent them back out so it would fit....... well the instructions say pull the tape off the bottom of the heatsink.... there was no tape..... but this ruberry stuff......i pulled some of that off but then though mabye that should stay on... so i put it together with half of that stuff still on.... i think thats my problem... was the rubber stuff suppose to stay on or not

Im definitley no expert here but yes it stays on, I just purchased an Athlon 1800 and even though the instructions say to pull the tape off, the retail version you have has no tape to pull off you just set it on the cpu and clip it in....
