My new comp sounds like hair dryer.

It's so freaking loud, like painfully loud. I can't sleep with it on. I am gonna get a new HS/Fan.

Does anyone know if this one is a quiet hs/fan? I need one with a 3 pronged clip.

I have that heatsink and fan. It is VERY quiet! It's extremely effective too due to all of the thin fins. 🙂

I had a Golden Orb on my P3 before and thought that was quiet...well, when I got my 1.4GHz tbird and that heatsink I couldn't believe that it was even quieter. 🙂

I was in the same boat up to last night, that 7200rpm was no joke, now i'm running 2 degrees higher but a lot more quiet. I just changed the fan and kept the heatsink, using a 5400 rpm now. Its still loud (you can definitely hear it) but it makes maybe 1/8 the noise the other one did. I can actually leave the door open now.

The fan on the HS is running at 7,000 rpm. It's screwed on by 1 screw, since its way too big for the heatsink. Hah! Its by YS Tech.

i have that taisol hsf. it's rated at 30dba and it's stil audible. i dunno if the noise is coming from my psu though. but it'll be much quieter compared to what you had before.

Try listening to 2 CAK38's, PSU fan, 2 rear fans, 2 front fans, 2 HD cooler's w/fans. And that's just in one system. The other has one of those monster 3-fan Pentium III heatsinks (don't remember the brand) with 2 rear fans, PSU fans (2), 1 front fan.

And then there is my fish tank with it's pump. hehe

How about 15 fans...

(1) 92mm exhaust fan above power supply
(2) 80mm exhaust fans inside the power supply
(2) 80mm exhaust fans below power supply
(3) 80mm intake fans in front (lower half)
(4) small intake fans on two 5 1/4 hard drive coolers
(1) heatsink fan
(1) chipset fan
(1) 120mm expansion card fan

😀

Of course I have a huge full tower case. (Antec SX1240)
