Today, I finally picked up and registered my new 2003 honda accord ex-l w/ 112k miles. It is a 4 cylinder DOCH i-Vtec engine so it's good on gas and still kinda fast, not to mention don't have to worry about infamous bad tranny like the one on v-6. I really like the exterior of the car, as well as luxurious leather and the attractive radio/ac controls. To make me completely happy, I have to get a door repainted because the driver side door was "keyed" and the scratch is deep. Wonder how much would that cost, if too expensive I might just use touch up paint to make it less noticeable.

Cool, but no pics? Also, isn't that still the most problematic accord ever according to a very bad website.(hondaproblems.com)

Wait, a coupe? Why a coupe? What's the point of getting an accord if it's a coupe?

coupe because it is more "sporty" if you will. I'll put some pics up tomorrow if it's not raining. 2003 has the most complaints because of the tranny issue I think. But the person who I got it from has all the receipts of scheduled maintenance and recent complete break job receipt.

yay, a fellow 7th gen accord coupe owner. congrats. the car rocks. www.driveaccord.net is a great non-ricer and helpful community for accord owners. check it out!

How much do you think would cost to fix that bad scratch? If it's too much I think I will just use touch up paint for now.
In the pictures the car looks really shinny, but in a sunlight you can see a lot of blemishes/ hairline scratches. I will have to polish/wax on a nice day.

where did the other pictures go? nvm

Is it normal that a cold engine rpms stay at about 1.7 but after it heats up the rpms drop to normal 0.7-0.8?

EMC controls IAC which controls engine idle speed. Most cars idle slightly higher when first started, this is done on purpose. 🙂

Call the dealers and give them your VIN to see if all recalls have been performed on the car. Congrats!

As far as the scratch goes, the body shop will need to bondo that, so it could cost a few hundies...

I've read that high rpms when cold is ok. But it's bad because I need to apply brakes harder to stop.
