So I'm a little tired of all the topics asking for advice on a new build and the endless replies saying brand xyz of ram/mobo/video card would be superior (even though they all use the same memory/northbridge/grapics chip(s)). So I present for your horror the computer I just put together.

Motherboard:
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert

Processor:
AMD 3700+ Socket 939 (San Diego)

Ram:
4x1GB Kingston ValueRAM PC 3200

Video:
Asus GeForce 6200TC 256/TD/64M

Disks:
Seagate Barracuda SATA
2x250GB 7200.9
2x500GB 7200.10

Optical Drives:
1 NEC DVDRW
1 NEC CDRW
1 Memorax CDROM

PCI Cards:
Rosewill 2 port ATA-133
Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI Card
Hauppage TV Tuner, not sure what version since its 6 years old (bt878 chip)

Case: Antec Super Lanboy

PSU: Antec NeoHE 550W (when you gotta have it now you gotta go to best buy... I feel so dirty)

OS: Ubuntu Linux

Thoughts:
If I had been thinking clearly I would have gone with an AM2 solution, but I orginally got a great deal on a Asus A8R-MX pos mobo. Anyway, the computer is used as my primary desktop. It serves as a samba share (windows networking) holding flac rips of my entire cd collection along with my 4 roommates. DVD rips are next... As soon as I run coax up to my room it will also run MythTV. It also accepts remote desktop connections via XDMCP so that my one roomie without a comp can use my old PII 266 to browse the web/check email without borrowing someone elses computer.

LOL...I would have put an 8800GTXXX in it and overclocked the the CPU with some sweet PC4bajillion RAM. Can't beat those Ultra 20000 Watt power supplies either, one for the case and one for the CPU!
