My New Build!

Everyone here is going to tell you to go C2D.

That way, you can get a newer nvidia chipset and a faster, cooler running processor for the same amount of money.

EDIT: Some links to get you started. Link Link

~the same price, but more performance and a better chipset.

i dispise Intel in my personal machines. AMD for life! The only Intel I own is this lappy, it was the price i wanted, and the hardware.

I doubt that EVERYONE will tell me to use Intel. You can't speak for every single person. 😀

Sorry, but I'm one of the ones who would've recommended Intel. I'm not a huge Intel fan either, but this is one of the rare times they're just flat-out better than AMD.

Otherwise, nice build.

You probably should have mentioned that (for whatever reason) you despise Intel when asking about your build.

Since you are sticking with AMD then, you have a pretty good setup here.

Some pros:
I really like the case, ram, and cpu cooler you have chosen. All high quality components with a good price/performance ratio. Safe to say you are planning on doing at least a little bit of overclocking with that setup, and if so, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Some things I would change:
4gb of ram is overkill for just about everything right now, and you are going to have to get one of the 64bit versions of Windows to even use that much without problems. I don't know how good the 64bit version of Vista is, but I have heard horror stories about driver support/compatibility with the 64bit XP, so you may want to take that into consideration.

The power supply that you have right now is overkill for your setup. If you plan on using two GTS's in SLI in the future, than you should stick with it, but otherwise you could go with a smaller one.

You are going to want a hard drive.

Wow, for someone not OC'ing, Intel C2D is a good idea over AMD X2.

But, for someone who is OC'ing, Intel C2D is a no-brainer.

Buy a C2D. Get an Intel chipset. Enjoy the speed and stability.

anyone who doesn't say go C2D at this point is like you and is a AMD only fan. But about 98%(that knows their stuff) of all ppl here will tell you go C2D. I was a AMD only guy until C2D came out. I am all about price/performance and right now Intel is smokin AMD. But that could change in the next 8-10 months.

My allegiance is to performance...I don't understand why you would blindly buy what's clearly an inferior processor.

I've had Intel and AMD, ATI and nVidia - buy what's fastest. Doing otherwise, imo, is foolish.
