My new build, finally

Well, after many years of using a Q6600, I have finally decided to upgrade. Let me know what you guys think.

AMD FX 6300 @ 4.6ghz, no voltage increase, H60 cooler 39c load.
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
8gigs Gskill Ripjaw
Samsung 840 EVO 250gig
Sound Blaster Z
MSI Geforce 650 TI 1.1mhz core 1500mhz ram (Radeon 7950 3gig Boost on the way)

less then $700 for the entire build.

I'm still waiting for the AMD R9-XXX GPUs to be released and benchmarked. I have my heart set on the R9-270X. Just hope to the gods that it'll perform better than a HD 7950.

Thanks, I was thinking of doing the same. However, I got

which is a 7970 pcb unlocked voltages etc, for 189 after rebate. Hard to pass up coming from a 650 TI

Also, these boards are direct from AMD, atleast according to the email I got from sapphire concerning some questions I had about the model number.

The R9 270x will have 256 bit memory. 7950 has 386 fyi, my guess the 7950 boost will beat the 270x at higher res

I knew that, but since I'm gonna game at 720p/900p, it probably won't make much of a difference. If the benchmarks tell me otherwise, than goodness I have HD 7950/7870 to fall back on. 😛

I bout the R7/R9's are going to be priced nearly as well as the 7000 series, so picking up a 7950 or 7970 at these fire sale prices is a good move IMHO.
