This is what I'm planing on buying:

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 $314.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003
Motherboard:
eVGA 680i $234.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188009
Memory:
Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 $194.00 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034
Graphics Card:
eVGA 8800GTX 539.99 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130072
Power Supply
Corsair 620W CMPSU-620HX 149.00 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817139002

I will then add these parts from my old system:

Hard Drives:
1 160GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive
1 300GB Seagate IDE Hard Drive
Sound Card:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
CD-Rom Drives:
1 Sony DVD RW
Miscellanies Items:
1 Fan Controller
4 80mm Fans

Total Price: $1,442.01

The only thing I'm concerned about is the memory. I've read that the motherboard that I am buying is picky about RAM. I went to eVGA's site and read the supported memory list and it did say that the Corsair that I have listed does work with it. The only other RAM I was considering was the Patriot PDC22G6400LLK @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144
I just want to make sure that I get the best Memory that I can get. What do you guys think, is the Corsair the best Memory for me. Also what do you guys think about my over all build, please give any suggestions.

You're not using SLI (and you probably should never consider it, given the high cost and minimal benefit), so why are you buying a 680i board? Better off going with something a bit cheaper.

Keep the 620W PSU. AT's review said that peak loads neared 480-500W on their test rig with one 8800GTX. If you use 95% of your PSU's capacity when you play games, your PSU is going to be making a lot of fan noise, it's efficiency may decrease, and it will burn out sooner. Hell, if you're thinking of dropping $200 on the Corsair 620, the PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 is right there also. If you need modular cables, Silverstone has a nice modular 850W PSU (the Strider 850) that costs $205 - and it has a HUGE fan on it, which should be able to move more air at a lower rpm.

RAM is bad...

You should be looking at something on the X975 chipset if you aren't interested in SLi... may I suggest the BadAxe2?

As to kedlav I know I'm not using SLI, but in case I want to in the future, I want to have the option. I'm getting the 680i board because it is the best of the best right now.

As to Roguestar a lot of people on eVGA's forums said they had trouble with that memory.

As to NicePants42 I don't really know what you talking about. First you say keep the PSU, then you trash it. I read this review http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/atx-psu5_14.html
and they really like it, they said that the PSU efficiency is 85% at the maximum and 84% at full which is very good. I don't know why you?re saying that I'm willing to spend $200 on a PSU, I'm only spending $150, and I think $200 would be outrages.

As to tcG all you say is the RAM is bad with out any reason, please give me a reason.

I'm not trying to sound ungrateful with your suggestions, but it seems like some of you didn't even read my post right. I can understand why you would be confused about why I'm getting an SLI motherboard and not using SLI. I'm just trying to buy the best of the best right now and make if future proof as much as I can, so if I do decide I want to using something, I can.

We know you're not using SLI now. We're saying that prepping for sli in the future is not in your best interest. SLI is expensive and gives minimal benefits. 2 $150 cards in SLI are much worse than a single $300 card. When you feel the need to upgrade your video, it would be MUCH smarter to buy the top-end card that is out then, rather than a second card thats not top of the line anymore. You wouldnt even be able to go SLi with that PSU anyway.

That being said, I recommend a P965 board, go for the DS3. There used to be some ram problems with the ds3, but that got sorted out ages ago, so you can get any ddr2 800 value ram, and the DS3 will be a better O/C er than the 680i.

That 620w will go nicely with your system, you'll have no problems

I have a very similar build to what you have listed, see below. I don't use SLI but purchased the board because I liked the other features and overclockablity of it. Take a look at this memory. I've had good luck with it in that board. I'm OC'd to 3.4 stable without any issues.

Who says its the best of the best? Tell that to the people w/ data corruption. Is it the best b/c eVGA is offering replacements for certain issues on the board? I wouldn't touch one of those things unless I NEED SLI. tcG is 100% right, 975X all the way. The e6600 doesn't need super high FSB to o/c.

Also, yh125td is correct on SLI and trying to plan if you might or might not use it in the future. It's pointless. 1 current generation card is going to be better than 2 previous gen cards.

Everything else I like...keep the PSU.

I agree with going with a 600w+ PSU ( I might choose a different brand of course, hehe). Taxing a weaker one will result in excess noise and possible hardware and stabilty issues. Been there, done that, got th T-shirt to prove it. ;)

Clarification: Don't get less power than 620W. Better?

That Corsiar PSU used to be $180, sorry, I should have froogled. I was trying to illustrate that you could get even more high quality power for the same ballpark price. I did not trash the Corsair 620. If you like it, great.
