I've always been fascinated by technology, but I had my first taste of GPS technology today and wow oh WOW! 🙂 I'll never be lost again. I bought a Belkin Bluetooth GPS receiver for my car (also reviewed here) for my iPAQ 4155 for $200 (including software and maps).
I loaded up maps for North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, D.C. and Maryland on my 512MB SD card and sat got in my car. I synced both of them up via the Bluetooth connection manager and was up in running in less than a minute. It got a fix on my position right away and showed my exact location. I pulled away from the parking space and started down the road and it started displaying the streets along with my speed. I entered in a destination, and the pleasant voice started calling out directions for me and even signaling ahead that there was a turn approaching. If I deviated from the intended course, it automatically recalculated for me on the fly...too cool 😉 It even showed me some shortcuts along my normal driving through Raleigh that I didn't even know about🙂
I've got one of these car mounts on the way so I should be all set 🙂
