if it's 5 speed, maybe close to 16 flat 😀
where are you getting 16s from? in MANUAL, it can get high 16s to 17s.
Unlike you he's not a benchmark racer. Go to the track once in a while
uh huh. i know what my car can do, and i know what's happened to every focus that i've raced. that's why i'm saying that it can't get 16s flat. that's what my car does.

shouldn't you be kissing miatagirl's ass or something?

For all of you folks saying that the manual would perform better in a quarter mile; that is not true. Usually in straight line acceleration an auto tranny is better than a manual; the computer can shift faster than you can.

It's not only about the faster shifting (also when to shift).
Auto trannies make use of a torque converter which is less efficient than a manual tranny setup.

Heh heh, your driving a chick car bro! Looks like they took the top of a Jetta and slapped it onto an ugly frame from that side pic, still looks decent though.

sweet.. another focus owner.. I dont have the Zetech engine I have the SPI engine (8V) but its plenty for now.

You got plenty more mods than I do.. head on over to www.focusfanatics.com and check out some of the links there.. You can easily push 170Hp without doing much mods (less than 1K in mods). There is a guy there with a Turbo'ed Focus pushing 225hp..

I plan to do some mods on mine but most are minor, a bigger throttle body, bigger intake, bigger injectors, chip it, lighter pulleys, high flow exhaust.. should be good for 30 hp or so.

Edit: Also check out www.focushacks.com its a neat site..

*TSK!* You don't buy this car to rice it out and run quarters; you but it for economic, reliable, transportation.

Besides, if he does a 19-second quarter, he's lucky! 😛

How much was it?
I didn't see where a price was posted, yet. However, I'd be willing to guess $15K (before taxes, tags and processing fees.) The ZTS is nice - too bad they didn't put the Zetec in all of the Focus automobiles. It's a great engine. I've had a Zetec engine in my ZX2 for nearly 5 years now - and not one problem has happened. It's actually been the most reliable car that I've ever owned.

[Edit]: I just checked the Edmund's site. A 2003 Ford Focus ZTS (2.0 liter, 5 speed) has a TMV price of: $16.597. The MSRP price is: $17,475.

Yeah, I dunno if any car bought for more than $10k can be really called a true beater. I guess it fits "daily driver" or "commuter" better.

Those wonderful mods that "crank your power up to 170hp" end up on the dyno at a whopping ~105fwhp. Don't fool yourself... +30hp from a non-SVT isn't that easy.

true true. and i'm no race car driver, but once i get used to a car, i can shift nearly as quick as an automatic no problem. clutch in, yank, clutch out. takes about a half second or less. the car needs a light flywheel to have the revs matched in time though. otherwise you have to sit there twiddling your thumbs while the revs drop enough to let the clutch in (my brother has a CRX that's like this, takes closer to 1 second per shift).

nice new car OpalFrost. wish i could afford a new car too 🙂

But, then you forfeit the 0% financing, correct? I thought you could get a $1,000 rebate and 3.9% financing.

I could have saved you $9,000: My Zetec (ZX2)
