My new AMD 64 3500+ stock fan is noisy!

My new build AMD Athlon 64 3500+ rig though runs fine but the cpu fan noise is somewhat loud and annoying. My mobo comes with some mod software (window based) but my x64 o/s prohibits it from installing. The bios is useless in terms of fan control and the fan speed as seen in bios is in the 3k rpm range.
It sounds like I'm out of luck?

fans can start making a little noise the longer their in use. maybe your stock cooler needs replacing...

i'd reccomend the thermalright XP-90 then, for now wand in the future. you can mount whatever fan you want on it, if noise isnt a problem going with panaflo fans for optimal performance, and nexus fans for less performance but very silent operation.

you could install speed fan and set the speed lower. Or you could replace it, that's what I did.
Or maybe you don't have enough fans in your rig and so it has to run that fast to keep it cool. In this case just buy a few case fans.

Personally, I would replace it. Something like the Thermalright XP-90, Thermaltake Big Typhoon, Scythe Ninja, or the Artci Cooling freezer64 Pro will perform much better and be quieter as well. I personally use the artic cooling product and I could not be happier. In particular if you want to overclock, consider getting one of those I mentioned above.
