My network connection is f***ed

So I'm using my machine yesterday.. and all of the sudden, my net connection goes out. I figure it's something on my ISP's end and think nothing of it. Try to (later) connect to a machine on my home network, and it doesn't work. Check other machines on the network, and they can access the net/other machines fine.

Reboot my computer, power off/on my router, power off/on my cable modem..
and still no network/net access.

Try ipconfig /renew.. and it can't connect to a dhcp server (I believe that was the jist of it). Try pinging any of the machines on my network (192.168.0.x x = 1-4), and it says destination host unreachable.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I have an ASUS K8N (nForce3 250gb) motherboard. The lights on the network card (on mobo) are orange, indicating I have a 100mbps connection. However, on my router only the LINK/ACT light is lit, and the 100 light is NOT (I'm not sure what these mean.. but something is wrong, because both lights are on for all other machines).

Any help appreciated.

I had a download on Limewire (NB: music downloads are legal in Canada :-> ), and I was reading a programming book online (although wasn't actually transferring anything at the time).

i had limewire manage to send some stuff i wasn't expecting some time ago.

do a full scan = antivirus/trojan and adware

make sure they are fully updated, then go into safe mode, and run everything you can

What type of router do you have? It could be having a problem renewing a lease with your ISP. Older Linksys routers are having those problems. Easiest way to resolve that is to reset the router, then reboot. Also Zone Alarm can get flakey and deny access thinking it's a foreign address (noticing that too much with SP2 now).

Did you try swapping cables? Or ports?

From what I gather you have a 100mb link on the NIC and 10mb link on the router. Replace the cable. Then swap ports. If the port works fine with other computers then your NIC is bad. Update drivers, fiddle with settings or RMA the board.
