My network adapter is not working!!1

My Network adapter is not working. i plug in the cable and windows says it's plugged in but i cannot get on the internet. This is a brand new mobo that i have. i tried getting the latest drivers but made no difference. also there is no activity lights anywhere to be spotted?? it is an ASROCK K7S41GX

If there's no lights at all it usually means there's no connection or no power on the cable. Is the cable connected to a router or a cable modem? If it's on a router, have you tried another port? Have you tried a different cable?
