dogs really hate cats that much?

it's not that they hate them. it's just that cats trigger the instinctual urge to hunt and kill (especially when more than one dog is together, triggering the pack instinct). people forget that dogs (cats, too) are carnivores. they kill and eat things smaller than them.

sorry to hear about that poor cat. what a terrible way to go.
they would actually eat the cat ?

Why not?

Chinese taught them that trick. :D
humans hunt but do not eat deer (and other wildlife) so that's why dogs might not eat cats after hunting them.

Um, you ever hear of venison?

This is what I dislike about my neighbors. They are very careless. A lot of their animals died.

1. They had a dog named Elmo. They let him outside. He wonders off into traffic, and he gets hit by a car.
2. They had a baby kitten. They left him outside. The next morning, they saw a stray dog, and the cat was in his mouth.
3. They had a dog named Pez. They NEVER let him inside. He gets hit by a car right in our sub division.
4. They had a black cat. He was declawed. He disappeared.
5. Now this cat. Declawed. Dogs kill him.

They never let that cat inside. Also, 1 of the young kittens they have is left outside. They don't put him inside. I don't know what will happen to him!

sounds like someone needs to make an anonymous call to the ASPCA.

Agreed. Why do these people have animals if they aren't going to take care of them?

Most people only declaw the front, the front claws are not their fighting claws. Anyway, kitty shouldn't be out wandering around.

Uhhh? You ever see a cat swipe at something? My dog has a nice scar right below her eye from the front paw of a cat.

The front claws are their attack claws. Also their claws are used for climbing trees and fences to get away from dogs.

I think they are those kind of people that say "If he dies, we can always get another one."

Their kids don't seem to care much either.

poor cat. Also, your neighbours suck, in regards to all their dying pets. Time to let them play in traffic.

Pathetic. What are they teaching their children by doing that? I hate people like that. Now, I feel sorry for the kids and the animal. :(

Depends ENTIRELY on the dog and how they were raised. I own a rohdesian which was originally bred to herd lions. She's actually SCARED of cats. She's been around multiple cats and runs from them.

Sadly in cases like this it's a zero fault. ALL animals were off leash and unattended.

It sucks...but that's what happens.

Actually, you can buy lion defecation. It's very useful. Even police dogs avoid my lawn. Dogs instinct also lets them avoid large cats. A lion vs a dog. Hmmm...

I don't like her much. I have never really liked her. I usually try to intentionally piss her off. She is very religious. Everytime I see her go outside, I open my window and starting blasting out to Satanic music. I make sure she hears it. ;)

She hates me because of that.

My old cat would have had a field day in that neighborhood. 25lbs of mean half bobcat (father was lynx rufus superiorensis). My neighbor had a rottweiler, and the dog made the mistake of barking at my cat.... my cat waited till he was asleep, stalked upon em, latched on to his snout with foreclaws, and raked out the dogs neck with his hind. Took a matter of seconds and that dog was nothing more than a bloody mess.
