My neighborhood has a group mailbox

Usually those big group mailboxes has one that is for outgoing, but mine doesn't. Am I supposed to put my outgoing mail in my box, and the mailman will sort through it if I don't check it every day? Or am I supposed to drive to the post office?

put your outgoing mail with the stamp facing up and out.

What is there for the mailman to sort through? I find it hard to believe you would put outgoing mail in the box but not take your incoming mail out at that time.

If he puts mail in the box, I don't check it, and then he comes back the next day, is he gonna check to see if it is outgoing or the same stuff from yesterday. It seems pretty obvious but I would hate to assume...

My last apt complex was the same way. People kept breaking in to the outgoing slots. and stealing mail. So our options were to drop outgoing mail off at the front office with theirs, or use a blue box. I never mail shit out anyway, so it wasn't a big deal to me.
