I'm wondering if there would be a way to restrict his bandwidth usage. I'd also hate to be sued by the RIAA should he be downloading Metallica.

should I do this? any reason not to? should I draw up some sort of contract?

No, there is no guarantee what he can or cannot do unless you install a program like websense or some administrative type program.

depends on trust. If you trust your neighbor to watch your house when you are gone, water the plants, then you could probably trust them to use the net connection without abusing it, if you spelled it out for them.
If they are that kind of neighbor, give them the access free.

Trust no one with your network!! Connections are cheap and there's no reason why he can afford to pay you but not get his own!

I wouldn't do it if he was my brother. Tell him to get his own internet and network. That $20 is going to look like chickenfeed if he brings the law down on YOU with his behavior online. This is a very foolish ideal.

Think about it - if you wanted to download a bunch of stuff that might get you in trouble, woulndn't you pay $20 a month to use someone ELSE'S network?

When the FBI kicks in your door for distributing child porn I hope the 15 bucks a month was worth it :p

what if he start doing BT and make your network speed down to crawl? do it if you have a way to monitor his bandwidth use.

If he does some illegal sh!t you take the fall. I vote no.

BTW-You would be effectively a party to theft.

It is against your Terms of Service to resell your bandwidth. You are in the wrong no matter if he downloads Porn or just surfs for religious material.
