my neighbor asked me to paint her shed.

Lifer
she has no man.
my father says shes looking for a husband of the street.
🙁
my shed needs to be painted.
whats a polite way of telling her i dont want to do this 🙁

Watch out for spiders and cobb webs - prolly really dusty in there if the equipment hasn't been used in a while.

Charge her alot of money for the job upfront. If she says no, she's gone. If she says yes, you have a nice wad of cash.

does she have any idea how big a chore painting is?

i think she looks at me like bobo the manual labor guy.
which in all fairness, i do look somewhat like a ruffian these days.
its a two story shed with one of those 4 angle roofs.

Tell her only if she has you over some milk and warm apple pie...

If she's not paying you, you shouldn't feel obligated to do it.

Yup. Unless she's elderly and/or disabled, I'd have no problem coming up with a plethora of excuses not to do it.

ANY paint job will take 3x longer than you originally estimate.

I would just flat out not do it, even if she DID offer to pay you. Two years from now, when the paint starts to peel, she'll demand that you do it again for free b/c you did a lousy job before.

Never mix business with pleasure, friendship or neighbors.

Tell her of your generic back injury, point to your own shed not being painted as proof.
