In the center of the screen, there is a piece of dust or something that is red behind the glass. It is the size of a pin hole or pixel, and is red in color when using a white background. It is most noticable with a white background, but I can also see it with any bright colored background. I don't think it is dust, but a slight defect in the aperature grille itself.
Also, on a white background, I noticed several vertical bars that are very faint that run down the screen 3" from the right of the screen. They are very very faint and a little darker than the rest of the screen, but still noticeable. These problems are not caused by my video card, because I tried two other video cards, including an ATI, and a Matrox.
I am very disappointed. This monitor is in the "professional" NEC line. It shouldn't have one little defect, IMO. Especially for the price I paid. Without these two slight defects, the monitor itself would be great. I bought it from Buy.com and they had free shipping, but I sure hope I won't have to pay return shipping for a defective product.
This is now the 2nd monitor I had problems with that was made in Mexico. My Sony had problems too and had to be sent back. I sure wish manufacturers would get their act together with their quality control.
