When this show first came on the air, I thought it was a breath of fresh air... or at least a breath of trailer park trash air. Somewhat quirky, off-beat and generally funny.

But is it just me, or have the past two seasons been pure trash? This whole Earl in jail thing is really pretty pathetic as well.

Seems as though the writers just gave up (even before the strike).

I agree. I don't even care if I watch this show any longer. Initially, I tried to watch every episode, but now I just don't care either way.

I thought it was kind of neat. Most shows would've just gone on break during the time he was in jail, then picked up the story after he got out, instead they focus on him trying to get out of jail early by doing his list, and they bring back some of the other minor characters to develop them a bit more. Adds some depth to the show, and it takes the focus away from characters they spent way too much time on (Catalina and all of her back home stories).

Yup it has gone downhill. This season was pure trash. Totally inappropriate themes...I was watching one with my nephew and some really terrible content came on in one of the prison episodes, it was embarressing. Sorry Earl, you lost me buddy! First season was great, second was mediocre, third is junk.

I tried it again tonight. This episode was actually pretty clean and moderately funny...the first season of Earl was hilarious though. They need more funnay!

Gasp!! You mean a show with the main character currently in prison isn't squeaky Brady Bunch clean?

Sounds like you need to switch to watching shows on TV Land or Nick at Nite.

They still manage to whip out some comedy gems.

Tonight with Darnell and the turtle was funny.

The infrared camera a few weeks back.

A couple of weeks ago Randy says: "The Dr. always told Mom I was somewhat artistic"

Yes I agree, this season is pretty crappy, there are better shows to spend my time on Thursday night (30 Rock)...

I agree about Earl, it got noticeably worse after Season 1. Not that it was ever high brow, but the writing definitely got dumber. I'm not sure why I still watch it.

I do like 30 Rock. I skipped the first season and wanted to hate it because I got so sick of Tina Fey on SNL, but Alec Baldwin has some great moments on there.

How old is your nephew? He probably shouldn't be watching a TV-14 show with his uncle. If he's over 14, I've watched plenty of Earl, there's nothing that's going to damage the average teenagers. Lighten up, Francis.

edit: I haven't watched any episodes since Catalina and Randy slept together and reversed positions, where she was in love with him and he thought she was disgusting. Did that storyline ever go anywhere?

I just assumed after the second season they just stopped making episodes to tell the truth I didnt even realize it was still on the air. The idea is wayyyy to small to make more than two seasons.

I bet he's referring to the episode with the gay gang leaders getting all hanky panky :p.

There hasn't been anything more about Catalina liking Randy.

I really haven't been liking this season so far and will be happy when he's out of jail and back to the normal routine.

My wife on the other hand, seems to enjoy the season more so.
