I don't care if you like, love, hate, whatever, itunes or ipod, i don't want this to turn into a "shouldn't have gone with an ipod" fiesta, so pleae if you post stay on top and i will greatly appreciate your help.

"About the iTunes Music Library file
The iTunes Music Library file is a database of the songs listed in your library and the playlists you've created. This file is located in the iTunes folder inside your My Music folder (in your My Documents folder). Do not move this file to another location. If you delete it, iTunes will create a new, empty copy when you open the application, but any playlists, song ratings, comments, or other information you created will be lost. "

that's straight from the itunes help menu. I hate the My Music folder or any of the default winxp folder for that fact except my docs. I do NOT want this folder to be created, i do NOT want anything in it! I Can't find any way to change where itunes creates and looks for its database. If i copy and paste the folder anywhere else it doesn't see it and it creates a whole new one with its database and i lose all the songs on the list AND i have to delete everythign on my ipod and reload them all because it doesn't recognize my ipod as for this system.

Someone suggested TweakUI where you should be able to change where windows creates the My Music folder? I instaleld it but there is no menu, no desktop icon, no start menu folder, nuthin to access tttttttweakUI! Another thing is even if i changed its location where WINDOWS creates it, it wouldn't stop itunes from creating a folder calle d"my music" under my docs correct?

Anyone with help? info? the same problem!?

I'm pretty sure that the location for the library info is in the same spot that the music is stored. So, you have to change the library location to change the library info file location. The setting is located under edit>preferences>advanced.

the default location for the library is C:\Program Files\iTunes so that isn't it, besides i don't have itunes handle the location of my files

Persistance of 'My Music' folder is Windows specific. As sparkyclarky suggested, you can change iTunes default library location to some other place. This worked for one friend of mine.
