Is it a Logitech? I had the same problem and I upgraded to the newest mouseware drivers off the Logitech site and no more probs!

is it an intellimouse optical (or with intellieye)? if so, i think the problem is that your computer went into standby. at this point, the mouse does not get power and so will not wake up the computer ... you will have to push a button on the keyboard, or maybe push the standby button on your computer case if it integrated on there.

hope this helps.

Have you tried tapping the keyboard? My Logitech USB optical mouse will not wake up Win2K but tapping the keyboard will. My kids Logitech USB optical mouse does wake up WinME. Always have had different quirks with waking up systems.
