Biggest problem I encounter with my current mouse pad is the fact it the mouse keeps going over the edge.. I've tried other mouse pads but the problem is the fact they don't get tracked easily with the optical mouse I've got. Any suggestions? Maybe a custom one?

I use a logitech optical mouse and I don't need a mouse pad to get it to work well

I got this free ovalish mousepad with the gel wrist pad in it, works awesome with my MX1000

The only bad tracking optical mouse I've used were cheap 10 dollar ones. I hope you invest a bit more then that.

$15 mx510 + $19 mousepad + gel pad = no problems.

ball mice suck and two it's impossible for the mouse to track on the surface I've got. Mouse pads are critical in preventing that "guck" you get in side the rollers (for ball mice) or on the pads for optical and ball mice.
