I just got a new Logitech cordless/optical mouse. I installed the latest drivers and logitech software. I am using winows XP. The mouse seems to be lagging on my desktop. I dont notice it in games but do when I am surfing or navigating through windows applications. Any ideas why?

I know it sounds silly, but here goes... Have you replaced the batteries?
Mine wigs out when the batteries start to run out... (still showing charge on the battery's charge indicator, tho)

Also, my mouse (Logitech cordless/optical) lags in certain games, but lowering the resolution seems to fix that.
One other thing-- I installed the logitech drivers that showed up about a week ago on Windows update, and they don't work (I run win2k). I had to uninstall the drivers and let windows find new hardware to get a pointer back.

good luck!

Okay, here's a stupid question... what kind of surface is it sitting on? Optical mice need some sort of pattern for the "eye" to work. If your desk/mousepad/whatever is a flat color, or the pattern is tight and repeating, it'll cause the mouse to "skip." I'm sure you already know this, but just in case... :)

More dumb thoughts:

hair/lint stuck in optical lense.
USB or PS2, I noticed a big improvement of smoothness when I took off the USB to PS2 adapter.
Somebody is sitting behind you with another Logitech wireless mouse giving you a hard time.

I've got a Logitech corded Mouseman Wheel, and the latest Logitech drivers are CRAP on XP. I've given up getting my thumb button back, and have stuck with the native XP drivers for now. (GAWD I miss having the thumb button double click!)

I hope Logitech gets off their asses and makes better drivers for XP.

I've been a Logitech fan for over four years now. But I'm seriously considering getting an MS mouse. I just hate giving up the most comfortable mouse I've ever used :(

make sure you have the updated driver. having the wrong driver can cause this. also make sure you have new/good battery and resync the freq.

Also, make sure that the receiver is well away from any electrical devices - they are VERY prone to interference. I actually pin mine to the wall above and behind the computer with thumbtacks. It's covered by the desk and it really did increase the range.
