My mouse is unable to select and drag---Problem Solved

I'm using a Logitech Mouseman+ on the ps2 port on a Win98SE machine. I have not changed any of the settings and all of a sudden my mouse will not select and drag an icon, folder or window. Every item I select is either launched or maximized. It's as if I'm double-clicking (which I'm not). I was using the default Win98SE drivers so I thought that I would try Logitech's Mouseware 9.0. Still having the same problem. I tried a cordless First Mouse and still no luck. I've uninstalled and re-installed the mouse and software---still no luck. I am using classic windows for my Desktop Update Settings, so single-click should not open items. I'm also virtually unable to highlight only the text I want, or select a region of a photo, or drag scrollbars so this is quite frustrating.

Thanks for any advice.

Disconnecting graphics tablet solved problem.

Hmmm, weird, try deleting the mouse in your hardware profile and see if that works. Good luck.

I have deleted it as well as the Logitech Mouseware. I even tried a third non-Logitech mouse. As I'm writing this I tried the mouse that is included with my graphics tablet and it works correctly. I'm going to disable or remove the tablet and see if that fixes the problem. Both devices have coexisted for months without any problems, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestion.
