My hands sweat a bit during intense gaming (like pvp in WoW). The MX518 black hard plastic on the right side feels "melted" to a degree. I clean it with those wipes and it just goes back the way it was when I sweat again. Am I the only one?

Yes, let the jokes commence.

you could wear latex gloves, that way your mouse won't get sticky. would be nasty on the hands though.

haha I remember when I had to borrow someone's glove in softball and it was moist after just a half inning. It's not like I'm fat (160lbs) - just born with sweaty hands. One of my kids too.

I have an MX518 and a G400.

Layer of grime on the black grips of the MX518, the G400 is non-absorbent rubberized grip. They changed it for a reason. I wanted to mess around with my 518 now that I had another decent mouse to fall back on if I needed to.

I have lots of pads of medical wipes they swab you with before giving you a shot, they have a bit of a rough texture and are doused in 70% isopropyl, it took a few days of drying, rough wiping, drying, but it's finally all off.

Get a towel and the purest isopropyl you can find. Good luck.

Smell your mouse I dare you.

Not sure why I picked my mouse up and smelled it for the first time, but let me tell you.....

Stinks.

The MX518 is hard plastic correct? You'd think sweating on a rubber grip as you describe would be worse no? Does it have tiny perforations?

Yes, the MX518 is hard plastic but like...fuzzy with rubber.

I wouldn't know how to accurate describe it. Does anyone know what that kind of material is called?

It sounds like your mouse has a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.

The mx518 doesn't get a grime buildup, a coating of sorts just starts flaking off. It is sticky and a pain to deal with. Happens to everyone.

I bought a bunch of these for the office, and the coating falls apart after about 6 months of use @ 8+ hours a day. They're great mice, but the coating on the side sucks.

I have other logitech mice where the coating looks similar but lasts forever, so who knows.
