Hi,
I recently bought a cheap Acer Aspire E380, Life was busy. I play online more than anytihng else. I got a x-fi xtream gamer by sound blaster. I also got a BFG 8500 GT, bad idea. SO I wanted to use the jacks on my mother board with my new sound card but was told by acer it couldn't be done. Also Acer doesnt have support on thier MB EM61SM NVIDIA MCP61PM W/ 1394 W/ RM W/ IOSHIELDING + USB HEADER(micro ATX). So here are my questions. I like my case but would like to connect my sound card to the jacks, can this be done or would I have to replace the MB? What can I use the PCI x1 for? I have a AMD x2 4800+ 2.5ghz processor in there, if I wanted to up grade what would be my choices? I have 2gb of Apacer DDR2 and 2 more open slots, but I run Vista Home premium 32bit(think I would have to upgrade OS to recognize more than this). If you need more info let me know. Thanks for your time.

Because creative is the suck they do not provide you with FP_AUDIO connections on the card, the next best thing would be to pickup an Auzentech Prelude (which is based on the X-FI chipset) or HT Omega Claro Plus; both of which have the FP_Audio connections. On the download with those cards, the Auzentech still doesn't have its drivers 100% perfect so it lacks a bit still and HT Omega doesn't support EAX.

I have something on the card to plud onto but because I dont have a layout of the MB I am not sure of the connector. The one I think it is has several other wires which I think goto the front USB ports. Hell I would be happy to be able to use the rear ports off the MB. I could use Y connectors(speakers and head phones) but it looks cheesy to me
