edit: And here's my shoplifting story: 8-pack of Mach3 turbo cartridges fell and got wedged in a corner of shopping cart. Set off the alarm when I exited. I figured the alarm was malfunctioning so I just kept on going--No one chased after me! When I unloaded the shopping cart, I saw I just scored free cartridges--Woohoo!

But I went back in and paid for them. Had to stand in line again :|

I've done it too...although usually I just go back and pay for it... no cops involved.

I'm wondering if the shop owner/"worker bee" called the cops, or if he witnessed it.

Seems like a lot of resources to waste on a $1.50 dew. (Yes I know its the law...just a little over the top. Nothing like spending $1000 (total guess) for the authorities to chase down a $1.50 pop.)

I once left a pizza restaurant without paying... I only realized this in the evening, when I saw that I have too much money in my wallet, and I went over the things I've done that day, in my head... felt so embarassed, I never set foot in that place again. Good old high-school days! Before you ask, I wasn't drunk, high, or under any medication... just totally absent-minded.

I'm guessing it took the cops all of 30 minutes, including paperwork and low speed pursuit.

What I'm wondering is why the clerk didn't just say "Hey, you forgot to pay for your Mt Dew!" Rather than running out and writing down the license plate...

lol, great story...what a waste of time for the officer. I did that at a Marshalls clothing store with a three pack of socks. I picked them up and walked around looking at stuff...walked right out of the store. I didn't even realize until 2 stores later when I looked at my girl and said, "i think i stole these" lol
