My monthly moron question.

Hi all,

The stock fan on a Sapphire 9800 pro was going bad. I had a vantec vga hsf laying around and have decided to use it.

I attached the hsf but the connection for the fan is the same as a connection that would go onto the mobo for a processor fan. The stock hsf had only 2 holes and they were very small as opposed to the 3 holes on this which are much larger. I have attached it in all configurations but it does not turn on.

1. I have an open connection on the mobo. Can I attach it to that?
2. Do I need some kind of adapter if I want to connect it to the card itself?
3. Please understand I am a noobie so dont laugh too hard.

Thanks, Leigh

You can connect it to the mobo, it should be fine. If you're confident in your sodering skills, soder them directly to the VGA. Or just swap the 3 pin for a 2 pin connector.

Easiest way to do it is just to plug it into the mobo.
