Recently my monitor has been shutting off the video signal after one min of keeping it on... It works after i unplug and plug the vga cable from my laptop. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Does it do this once you get into Windows or upon boot up? What kind of video card do you have? How old? What drivers? What kind of monitor? How old? Have you made sure that the power connector for the monitor is secure, I have had issues with mine where the power cable wasn't making good contact. If you are getting into Windows and then it shuts off it may be a video card issue, either hardware or software related. I would first reinstall the drivers (using the Driver Cleaner method) and see if that helps. You could also try one stick of memory, a different PSU.
Driver Cleaner Method (in case you did not know already):
1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro.
2. Uninstall current drivers through Add/Remove Programs.
3. Restart the computer and boot into Safe Mode.
4. Run Driver Cleaner to remove all the left over files and registry settings.
5. Restart, disable any virus scanning software, and install the latest official drivers.
6. Restart.
7. Pray.
The problem is still occuring, i doubt its a Win XP problem... can anyone point me in the right direction to repair a HMD-A400 sony trinitron monitor... :-\
hmmm u could be using a refresh rate ur monitor doesnt support hence its protecting itself by shutting off. try booting into windows and setting it to 60Hz
