My Monitor(s) are dying. :( Need a Replacement

Well I guess I know the lifespan of an LCD monitor.. I've got dual 19" 1280X1024 resolution LCD monitors on my Desk and I've got no clue as to what I should replace them with. I love to game, I want to be able to reduce resolution and then have the screen 'double it' so I'd assume it'd be the best case scenario when gaming IF I have to. (1024X768=2048X1536, both valid resolutions) Or maybe I could be guided to a program that would 'optimize' this situation for me, I dunno....

Here is my current setup

Dual screens, 19"
Two computers linked up into Switch, desktop has dedicated line running to one screen, other 'line' goes to switch, laptop has 'line' going to switch and that switch is connected to the other monitor.

Now there are any dual screen lovers, please chime in as your OPINION MATTERS MOST!!!! So I've got dual screens, absolutely love the fact I can maximize two screens on two screens, it really helps with getting work done, more info per page, can be playing a game in one screen while have system monitoring utilities on the other screen etc.

So I'm wondering, how would I go about upgrading my screens & getting dual screens? Is this possible? What should I get? I'm for a loss of words at this point. 🙁

Please help.

How'd you come to the conclusion they were dying? Both of them are dying at once or just one?

I would replace them with two LG L204WTs (reasonable price and great performance).

Well both monitors are exhibiting 'warming up', where you gain slightly faint patterns of no real distinct shape forming ALL ACROSS THE SCREEN and when it finally warms up, it goes away. Well this has been happening since maybe july? Well the monitor I've been using a bit more as of late, well it certainly requires warm up, but now instead of the patterns going away, they've become smaller patterns instead. I have no idea if I'll be able to take a snapshot of what is happening or not..

Yea, fiddling with the VGA cables does nothing. The reason I came to the conclusion that they're dying is because I read in a thread and some seemingly very knowledgable posted that these are symptoms of a dying monitor and mentioned the specific part which would be very expensive and difficult to replace.
