Got a samsung 21" crt cheap on AT for sale forum, and fedex seemed to treat the box pretty bad. the side of the monitor came out of its socket but it worked fine though and didnt seem to have any problems. until 2 days ago i saw it go from regular monitor to cyan hued crapper. i have dual displays so i wasnt too upset initially, but now i got a $90 paperweight on my desk. any ideas, these usually cost alot to get fixed right?

i've tried the settings on the monitor and they were useless. using the ati control panel, i was able to determine that it has something to do with the color red. If I adjust the green or blue both screens change at the same time, if I adjust the red then only 1 screen changes. so it looks like the red on my monitor died. any ideas?

TIA

Your monitor cable is loose, or has a bent pin (the one carrying the red signal, which is why your display is a nice shade of cyan). Either that, or the internal connector inside the monitor is partially broken.

If the cable is loose, plug it back in securely. If you have a bent pin, you may be able to bend it back with some needle-nose pliers. If you cannot repair the cable, or it seems like it is broken internally, an electronics repair shop can easily fix it.

And the next time Fedex abuses a package horribly, refuse to accept it...
