my monitor is very dark

in order for it to look like it should, i have to put brightness and contrast at 100%. even that looks dark in games sometimes. is there anything i can do to fix this other than buying a new monitor?
 
Get Powerstrip, then you can adust the gamma while you play a game using the hotkeys. You can even set up custom gamma settings for different ga,es.
 
wow thanks dakata24, i never thought of that. problem solved.

by the way, ISAslot, i have a 'Gemstar' brand (crappy bought it at fry's) monitor and an asus geforce1 ddr 64mb, v6800 i believe is the model number
 
no prob tokamak.. 🙂

hehe. gemstar.. those arent too bad. a friend got one of those from frys as well when i helped build his k6-2/550 system for him.. only prob was the low refresh rate at higher resolution.
