My Monitor is Fuzzy

My Hitachi CM721F that I bought a few years back seems to look like it's out of focus. It's not around anything that would cause interference or anything. I just want to know if it's definitely the monitor, because I think I've seen it come in clear for a minute or two at one point...I don't know.

Anyway, anyone have ideas on how to get the blur to go away?

It can be one of several things.

Does your monitor cable have a Ferrite core on both ends?
(a large plastic bulge before the vga connectors)

If so, then the likely cause is capacitors (1 uF electrolytic capacitors - both polarized and bipolars) on the CRT board.

Hitachi no longer sells CRT's in the US so finding service center is difficult (the monitor
should have come with a 3 year warranty)

The monitor does have the Ferrite core on both ends of the cable. The monitor is a little over 3 years old I believe. It only started happening a few weeks ago and I don't think anything has changed. Is there anything else that could cause it? or is the monitor shot.

Thanks for the answer LiLithTecH, you seem to know your stuff. I just don't want that to be the answer 🙂 I want someone to say "oh, all you have to do is press this button, or smack the monitor'

basically...is there any driver settings that would cause it to be blurry? Like...maybe alter the refresh rate, or something funky like that...I don't know
