My monitor is freaking out

For a while now my monitor has occasionally been becoming blue tinted, and it normally goes back to normal color when i move the wire around. I had thought that this happened only when the monitor was on a power cord (because of electrical interference), but today it happened and wouldn't go away even when the cord was touching nothing.

I found out that if i used a ruler to prop up the cord at just the right angle where it connects to the computer it would go away. I thought i'd try turning the plug aroung, so i unplugged it from the computer, turned it 360 degrees, and plugged it back in. But now, instead of just getting the monitor tinted blue, it will become tinted in different degrees to any color, even sometimes just going entirely black.

I found that the problem is in the 1/2 inch or so of cord between the plug that goes into the computer and the big hard circular plastic thing a little bit out from that on the cord. It now only works when the circular plastic thing is at a 90 degree angle to the plug. I've got it propped in a way so that it works right now, but i don't know how long the cord will stay like this.

Any ideas as to what caused this or how to fix this?

My monitor is a Dell DR25HT (15" CRT)

time for a new one. my old A70 used to go tints of yellow it wouldnt change frequencies besides 60 and 85. it eventually died no me and it just means your mnoitor is dying.

Due to the fact that you say the problem goes away when you wiggle the monitor cable, I'd say you probably have broken wires inside the cable. If the monitor is still under warranty, Dell would probably replace it. If not, your options are to get a new cable (difficult to replace for cables that are soldered to the system board(s) inside the monitor, find a way to make the cable stay in the position where it works properly such as heavy tape or other material around the cable to support it in place, or replace the monitor.

Its an old monitor that i got a while ago from a used comp store, so im pretty sure its not under warranty. Plus I found a way that i think makes it work well, so im not going to try switching the cable

But does anyone have any ideas why this happened now? It has been a very bad day for me, but i don't think that could have caused it 😉.

The mon is used for too long time,
There are some shops fix old mon at reasonable price
but i should commend a new one
