My HP 19" Monitor is DEAD. At least, I think so.

I'm no wizard with the insides of electronics or anything, but I spent about 2 hours last night taking it apart and checking for fried parts. I found no fried parts. So that is not the problem (probably).

This is what happens when I attempt to turn on the monitor:

I am able to turn the electric on with the power switch, however, the monitor as a whole does not power on like it should. The only thing that happens is very strange. When I turn it on something ticks constantly, much so like a clock. I am almost positive the ticking is coming from this area:
Ticking Area
Ticking Area Closeup

Now the ticking stops when I press this power button, but the light never even comes on or the monitor never powers up when I have the electric on. It just ticks.
Power Button

any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. I really don't wanna give this monitor up. I wanna fix this no matter what. Thanks

forgot to add one thing:

When the monitor died, it went slowly. About a month before it died i noticed that the screen would flicker a lot. It would widen and become "squished" almost until one day it just shut off and didn't work anymore.

Maybe this helps. I appreciate any insights anyone can give me.

The little white boxes look like relays, which would make a ticking sound. It could be shorting and kicking the relay off and on. Prolly time to be safe and replace it. Monitors tend to be as cheap to buy as to repair these days.

I wouldnt recommend any repairs to a high voltage device. You could get seriously injured or worse unless you know exactly what you are doing.

I guess it's not under warranty anymore?
I agree with mastertech01 on this one, unless you have alot of time and "knowhow"
it's cheaper to find a new replacement. The shipping charges to a service center would probably be pretty high.

More than likely the HOT Transistor is bad.
Also, the low voltage electrolytic caps are also likely
bad in the Power Supply unit.

Since HP used so many suppliers for their monitors,
(Daewoo, Samsung, LG, Tatung, Panasonic, Sony etc...)
you would need the Model #, Chasis #, FCC ID# to
get the parts.

The only high voltage you need to worry about is the HV
charge in the CRT (which you need not touch).

I agree though, if you are not comfortable with it, do not attempt it.
